The Forest Service is requesting comments on the scope of a proposed MPB Response Project to pre-authorize treatments of up to 325,000 acres of the Black Hills National Forest, if pine beetle spot outbreaks occur in these areas.
The MPB Response Project Scoping Letter provides an overview of the Project proposal.
The MPB Response Project Treatment Map shows that the areas proposed for pro-active treatments are not those areas currently experiencing beetle mortality.
See the attached Comment Points Memo for suggestions to raise in your comment letters, which should be sent by September 7, 2011.
